Frequently asked questions
Does PrismSearch replace the default WordPress search?
Yes, optionally. Enable “Override default WordPress search” to use indexed post-type results on the regular WordPress ?s= results page. Indexed taxonomy terms remain available in live search.
What happens when my licence expires?
Pro features remain active on the registered site, but licence-based plugin updates are unavailable until the licence is renewed.
Can the free version display custom fields in results?
Yes. Select fields under “Frontend meta keys” to include their values in live search results. Making metadata searchable requires PrismSearch Pro.
When do I need to rebuild the index?
Build the index after installation and rebuild it after changing indexed post types, taxonomies, searchable meta keys, NLP language or multilingual settings. Changing display-only frontend meta keys does not require a rebuild.
Does PrismSearch support typo tolerance?
Yes. Enable fuzzy typo matching in the settings. Fuzzy matching runs as a fallback when normal search returns fewer results than the configured threshold.
Does PrismSearch work without WooCommerce?
Yes. WooCommerce is entirely optional. PrismSearch works with selected public post types and taxonomy terms. Pro adds WooCommerce price formatting, WCML currency handling and optional add-to-cart output.
What is the Direct Pro endpoint?
PrismSearch uses the WordPress REST API by default. Registered Pro sites can optionally use the Direct Pro endpoint, which loads WordPress with SHORTINIT and avoids most of the normal WordPress bootstrap process. Changing the endpoint does not require rebuilding the index.
